What is the film about?
The “When the Saints” film is a thought-provoking and powerful tool to help open minds to the understanding that this is not just someone else’s problem. Often, unknowingly, we are a part of it. Things can change and change begins within each of us.
The film documents the story of one man’s mission to end sexual exploitation in the heart of Malawi, Africa and his journey to discover that it begins in his own heart. The
beautiful, honest, vulnerable, and wildly compelling story challenges us all to explore the unplumbed depths of our hearts.
The documentary calls us to care about justice for girls who are trafficked in rural Africa and at the same time asks us to examine the ways we either dignify or exploit our brothers and sisters that we know or have yet to meet.

What is the fundraiser event about?
The “When the Saints” is a non-profit organization on a mission to save the lives of women and children by changing the hearts of mankind. The organization is bringing awareness and creating change with its documentary film screening that has become a progressive movement in over thirty-two states in the US.
Brenda Schuitema attended a film screening and was so moved by what she learned that she felt a call to action and wanted to share the experience with others. So, Brenda is now hosting a film screening and fundraiser event via her affiliation with the Oakville Elks.
